*RBI Floating Rate Savings Bonds 2020* (Taxable) are 7-year government-backed debt instruments offering a competitive, variable interest rate, currently at 8.05%h per annum as of early 2026.

Designed for resident individuals and HUFs, they feature a minimum investment of ₹1,000, no upper limit, and interest payouts every 6 months (Jan 1/July 1).

Key Features of RBI Floating Rate Bonds:

*Interest Rate*: The rate is linked to the National Savings Certificate (NSC) rate, with a spread of 0.35% over the NSC rate, reset every six months.
*Safety*: These are Sovereign bonds issued by the Government of India, making them practically zero-risk.
*Tenure*: 7-year lock-in period; premature withdrawal is restricted to senior citizens based on age-related bands.
*Taxation*: Interest is taxable under the Income Tax Act, 1961.
*Eligibility*: Resident individuals and HUFs. NRIs are not eligible.
*Form*: Issued only in electronic form (Bond Ledger Account).

These bonds are suitable for conservative investors looking for a secure, long-term investment that provides better returns than standard bank fixed deposits.
